It may well be a proof of Timothy's courage and consecration that he had seen very clearly what could happen to an apostle and had yet not hesitated to cast in his lot with Paul. As members of the Church, we should sometimes ask ourselves, what are we trying to do in it? That the man of God may be perfect,2 Timothy 3:17; 2 Timothy 3:17. There is just a certain natural love that would keep people from doing a lot of the things they are doing today.
